Story

Shankar (Chiranjeevi), a cab driver, arrives in Kolkata with his sibling Mahalakshmi (Keerthy Suresh) for her studies. Meanwhile, a criminal syndicate, headed by Alex (Tarun Arora), abducts young women in the metropolis. Shankar assists the authorities in thwarting one of their abductions, prompting Alex to seek retribution against him. What occurs subsequently? Did Alex kill Shankar? Who is Shankar? What is his backstory? The answers can be discovered by viewing the feature film.

Positives

Megastar Chiranjeevi knows the desires of his fans and consistently delivers top-notch entertainment. In this movie as well, his immense popularity is a delight for his fans. Chiranjeevi once again exhibits his excellence, impressing with his ability to excel in both action and emotional scenes. Keerthy Suresh is given a substantial role and her performance is truly remarkable. Once again, she has ample opportunity to showcase her emotional depth in this film.

Tamannaah Bhatia looks stunning and despite having limited screen time, she gives her all. Sushanth, Murali Sharma, and the rest of the cast perform adequately in their respective roles. The action sequences are skillfully crafted and the cinematography greatly enhances the overall experience. Dudley's exceptional work, particularly in the fight scenes, is evident.

Negatives

The narrative suffers a setback in the beginning. The story is quite ordinary, and there is no freshness in any scene. Chiranjeevi puts in his best efforts to elevate the film with his performances in both comedy and action sequences. Unfortunately, there is no standout moment in the film.

Meher Ramesh's direction falls short of expectations. He fails to make the movie enjoyable by injecting a fast-paced screenplay. Some scenes in both halves could have been handled better.

When it comes to a Chiru movie, one would anticipate better songs and lively dance moves. Regrettably, the film lacks both, and the music score is subpar. Mahati Swara Sagar fails to leave an impact. The film includes numerous characters that do not contribute to the storyline. Actors like Uttej, Raja Ravindra, Brahmaji, and others could have been given more screen time to showcase their talents.

Tamannaah is only given a limited number of scenes, and she does not have the opportunity to display her performance. The comedy scenes are decent, but they require better execution to appeal to family audiences.

Technical Intelligence

Meher Ramesh squandered a fantastic opportunity to transform this Vedalam remake into a remarkable film. He crafted Chiru's character admirably, but faltered in creating a captivating screenplay. If he had focused more on the storytelling, the outcome of the movie would have been different.

Composer Mahati Swara Sagar failed to make a lasting impression. The editing by Marthand K Venkatesh could have been improved. The cinematography by Dudley is clean and enhances the overall viewing experience. The production values are commendable.

Verdict

Overall, Chiranjeevi's Bholaa Shankar is a mediocre action drama with decent performances from Chiranjeevi and Keerthy Suresh. The comedy scenes sprinkled throughout the film worked well in both halves. However, viewers should temper their expectations while watching this movie, as it includes a few unnecessary scenes and a sluggish screenplay.
